iTunes & iPod Automation with PodCasts

Hi, all…

I’ve subscribed to a podcast and I get three files automatically downloaded to my “Music” folder every night. The files are coded with the date and “1,” “2,” and “3”.

I’d like to have the following automation via AppleScript (or maybe iCal Alarm Scheduler?):

  1. confirm the files are properly downloaded
  2. if they are confirmed, automatically add the new files to iTunes
  3. confirm the new files are added to iTunes
  4. auto-synch iPod mini that was plugged in when I went to bed

This way the iPod is ready-to-go when I leave the house in the morning.

This seems like pretty basic automation, but I can’t find such an AppleScript anywhere. I’m not an AppleScript expert, so I thought I’d check to see if such a script is available or how others have solved the problem.

A clever idea, but it hardly seems worth the effort when you can just wait for a couple of weeks and let apple do it for you.
