Has anyone ever worked with MySql on a local machine rather than a server?

I have been playing around with AS and mySQL for a few months. I found this thread to be helpful, especially the script library linked to the VERY LAST MESSAGE in the thread. It is a download file of a number of handlers to use AS to communicate with mySQL.
