Our old QuarkXPress Passport documents were made using Extensis QX-Layers. Because the newer versions of XPress have their own layers which are fully scriptable we never bothered about QX-Layers anymore. Until we had to run some AppleScripts on a QX-Layered document. Quark unexpectantly quits when I put some text in a text box and the QX-Layer of this text box is invisible.
Problems:
- When the document is opened the user does not get any message that there are (invisible) QX-layers used. I would like to build a check-script for that.
- How can I script it some way the user gets warned? If necessary we can install QX-Layers although we don’t like it.
- Extensis does not give any support on their Applescript features, anyone of you have experience scripting QX-Layers?
