Filemaker & AS under OS9 vs. OS X

I’v been using Frontier and Filemaker for various organizational tasks. When trying these under OS X, however, I am finding that Filemaker is much much slower at even a simple lookup like
every record whose field “fieldname” = “value”
Under OS 9 this is practically instantaneous (a 1300-record database); under OS X it takes 20 seconds, during which Filemaker is taking up something like 80% of the CPU. Same for both Applescript and Frontier, so the problem is probably with Filemaker. Has anyone else experienced this? Any thoughts?

Try using AppleScript Studio ( see Apple.com web site ) which solves a lot of speed issues for AppleScript under MacOS X. It may be a developer-only CD release. Try joining the free Apple Developers Assn ( ADA ), e-mail them on how to get it, and then order it online It will be out in the next public release, v.10.2 of MacOS X.
