automating the tracking of Quicktime file. Is it possible?

Is it possible to build an Applescript or droplet that will make a QuickTime VR call on an file outside of the .mov file? I would like have it call on an invisable file or html page so I can track the URL of where my .mov files are being used?

Or if someone has an alternitve method I’d love to hear it.

Thanks

No, that’s not possible. I know that some porn sites put up promotional videos on file sharing networks that, when viewed, open the site’s sign-up page, but I think I’ve only seen that with Windows Media Player. At any rate, whatever mechanism that allows that in WMP, it wouldn’t be something as open ended as unfettered scripting language calls. AppleScript is too powerful and tempting a target for virus writers to allow embedded execution in Quicktime files, and no provision has been made thus far to allow scripts to run with a restricted set of features.
