Running a script w/o ScriptEditor

I’ve done this once, but i can’t remeber how. I have a script that i want to put in my dock next to my trash can. But when i click on it, the apple ScriptEditor pops up. I just want it to run. If i compile it as an application, it can no longer go in the dock next to the trash can. Did i actually do this at one point or am i insane?

The only solution i can think of is to save it as an ordinary script then have some other application that can open applescripts and run them instead of displaying them. Then set this as the default application for that particular file.
However off the top of my head i can’t recommend and particular such app (though it shouldn’t be hard to find one).
