That’s not a reason why it is depreacted, it just shows it is deprecated.

Only Apple engineers may say why this or that feature is deprecated.

But in this case we can guess that it’s because it uses deprecated Carbon functions, and they decided (unwisely, as this thread suggests) that System Events was an adequate replacement, rather than rewriting it using newer code.

The decision made more sense for info for, but I think it was short-sighted with list folder.

Nonetheless, it’s not as if there aren’t other alternatives nearly as quick…
