Add GIF Image or Movie to App

I have a app for iTunes. The Indeterminate Progress Indicator stalls while iTunes is doing it’s thing. I tried using Shane Stanley’s Myriad Helpers & Ford Events. I also tried a couple other methods. I think the problem lies with iTunes. As a work around, I’m trying to add a animated GIF or QT movie of the Indeterminate Progress Indicator to my app. That way I can just play the clip and don’t have to jump through hoops just to get a smooth spinning Progress Indicator. I can add a GIF or movie to my app, but when I run the app, the image displays as a gray bounding box, rather than the progress indicator image or movie. What is the trick to show an image or movie on the UI / MainMenu.xib when the app is run?

It should display the Progress Indicator image like this:

But the running app displays a gray bounding box like this:

I’m not sure why the image was displaying as a black box on previous tries, but I resolved it after starting over with a new project. Under Image View > Image’s drop down menu I was able to scroll down beyond what was shown and finally selecting the image by name.
