Adding music to iTunes without duplicates

I’m looking for a way to take a folder filled with music and add it to iTunes. The caveat is that some of the music contained within this folder might already be in the library. I want the script to check and see if the files already exist and if so then don’t add them to the library. Is there an easy way to do this?

Hi Scott,

without reinventing the wheel you could

¢ import all tracks
¢ run Doug’s Corral iTunes Dupes or Dupin to gather all duplicates in a new playlist
¢ create a smart playlist with criteria “only the dupes playlist” and “date added” is in the range of the import date
¢ delete tracks of the smart playlist
