I have a little application that monitors my Apple USB modem and detects the caller ID for incoming calls. It has a built-in feature that allows you to execute an applescript based on the phone number for the incoming call. I was wondering if there is a way to tell the Apple Fax application to manually answer the call if the incoming number matches a certain number (i.e. a know FAX number for an incoming FAX) and otherwise do nothing if the phone number isn’t in the list of valid FAX number.
wanted to have a way of answering FAX calls without having to answer manually or having the Mac pick up voice calls. I know that there are some apps out there (PhoneValet) that can handle voice and FAX calls and act as a FAX and an answering machine but I was looking for a poor man’s solution.
I actually have an HP 3050 multifunction device, but the FAX features don’t work in Snow Leopard and I don’t think that HP has any plans to update that driver soon.
