I know that the boards are being watched by some pretty “in the know” people (Sal) right now. So I thought now would be a good time to post some questions.
1.) Rendezvous -
I don’t know exactly what I would want to do, but it seems like integration with applescript and rendezvous has some very nice opportunities. I imagine have scripts running that are broadcasting their services to other scripts or even to “Finder” script menus.
I haven’t had a chance to really delve into Panther scripting, (I have been stuck in VB.net class since its release and I am posting this from class!)
I did find this app http://toxicsoftware.com/software/shareware/iRoster/
but I haven’t had a chance to play with it yet.
Question: Will applescript and rendezvous ever be joined somehow?
2.) Applescript over IP -
This is related, as it concerns remote applescripting. I have seen a good deal of interest in this, and I have being playing with it succesfully in 10.2. In fact, I plan on rolling out a pretty large project with it. But there seems to be a certain amount of trepidation and fear of using ASoIP. In many cases, I think the fear is justified, because it seemed pretty horrible in OS9.
Question: Will ASoIP continue to mature and be supported? Is ASoIP stable and considered usable and reliable?
Any comments ?
