I search a way to identify applications by category.
For short time now, I used to extract the CFBundleTypeRole values to get an idea if an application reads and/or writes data. However, its a very dry and superficial info. Isn’t there a real distinction between applications ??
unbelievable.
to make an example, we have categories to distinct between files in form of folders in our home folder, like:
-pictures
-music
-video
-documents
-downloads
-(developer) not everybody uses this folder
