Asterisks in a password field

Is it possible to have a dialog text field that puts in bullet points or asterisks in place of plain text? I am making an app that prompts for a password, but, for obvious reasons, I don’t want it to be in plain text. I really hope this isn’t going to be another “Use AppleScript Studio” thing since I don’t have it.
