character limit in scripts??

Hello everyone,
I just have a quick question. Is there a limit to the number of characters or lines of code that you can have in a single applescript?

I ask because I have written scripts in the past that were rather lengthy in the past that would not compile. They would never result in an error, they just would not compile at all. So my only thought is there must be a character limit or a line limit. Can anyone confirm if this is true or not? I've searched through the posts here and thus far have been unable to find an answer.

I think there is only a limit as to how much resources your script draws. Try google internal table overflow.
