CMD Q doesn't activate the "on will close" handler

I noticed when shutting down my applescript app using the CMD Q shortcut key or the menu option to close the app that it doesn’t activate the “on will close” handler.

Is there a handler that covers that?

You mean an AppleScript Studio app?

on will quit or on should quit? (See “File’s Owner” in IB.)
