Copying cells in Excel and Pastin in Mail.app

Hi guys,

Currently I’m working on getting the contents out of mail messages in Mail.app and re-compiling them with a certain formatting.

Everything was well until one of the guys sent me a mail message with copy and pasted cells from Excel 2008.
The formatting for all the contents in the cells went nuts.

e.g. original mail message
column1 column2
row1 data1 data2
row2 data3 data4

after recompiling using “set mailContents to contents of theMessage” to extract the contents via applescript, then “set contents to mailContents of newMessage”, the text in the new mail is

column1
column2
row1
data1
data2
row2
data3
data4

What i found out was that when i did “set mailContents to contents of theMessage”, it changed the rich text contents to plain text.
Is there anyway to solve this problem?

If not, could any thing be done on Excel’s side to copy and paste without pasting in rich text?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
