Dialog Director

Whats wrong with my script, I have Dialog Director in my ScriptingAdditions folder and whenever I try to use it, it doesn’t work! Whats wrong!!!

Model: iBook G4
Browser: Safari 419.3
Operating System: Mac OS X (10.4)

I think Dialog Director is OS 9 only, and I think it even works in Classic mode (that is, I’m getting some fancy dialog boxes, which I think I remember making with Dialog Director. But since they’re in Filemaker, I might have remade them with one of the FileMaker plugIns… not easy to backtrack at this point.)

Someone here may have a trick for using Dialog Director with OSX apps… I’m still looking at the AppleScript Studio pieces with apprehension, not knowing how much I will need to remake my old scripts to take advantage of them.

Hi,

Creating dialogs with Smile, is slightly similar to Dialog Director. The downside is that the dialogs open with the Smile application. If you know AppleScript, then AppleScript Studio is not that hard to learn once you get past the few tricky parts.

gl,

Thanks, I’ve been using Studio, I was just wondering if I could make an advanced dialog just from my little script. Anyway, that cleared it up for me.

You could create your dialog in AppleScript Studio and open it from a script. I think there are many ways you could pass parameters to a dialog maker for different dialogs you create in your app.

gl,
