Duplicating between documents in QXP 4.11

I went nuts trying to work with grouped objects in QXP for the very same solution (making press sheets out of pages). There were inconsistencies with object position on the page wether they are grouped or not, and errors like you describe were frequent. Duplicating each item one at a time, while it was easier to get working, was too slow and got complex with large press sheets.
I finally resolved to save pages as EPS files and then place them in the press sheet layout as images. This works well if the pages contain basic elements, but gets problematic if elements contain images of various formats (some EPS and TIFF pictures, in a page exported to EPS, can cause postscript errors); so I then turned to PrintChef for an inexpensive multi-up solution.
: Here’s one that’s driving me nuts. I’ve got a document with over
: 1300 pages with all elements (text and picture boxes) grouped.
: I need to get the contents of each page over onto a 8-up press
: sheet (template’s already created). The problem I’m having is
: I can’t figure out the proper syntax to select all the items
: on one page of the orginal document and duplicate them to the
: other document. I’ve tried setting the property
: "selected’ of every generic box to true. I’ve tried
: setting the tool mode to drag mode and setting selection of
: generic box 1 to true. I’ve tried all of the above with
: “every” box, “first” box and “generic
: box 1” with no good result. When I try to run these, I
: get “Can’t make some data into the selected type”.
: I’m running Mac OS 9.2.2 and QXP 4.11. Is this something so
: obvious that I can’t see it?

Well, i’ve got EPS’s and TIFF’s in there, with clipping paths. there’s only one word to say about this, but it’s not for use in a public forum…

It might be worth a shot. The problems I was having with embedded postscript was back with a Postscript Level 1 device and only with some pics, not all EPS/TIFF files. Depending on the output device it may work, but I had to say something since I was taught that embedding postscript like that is always a bad thing.
