Easy backup for my mother's Reunion files

My mother uses the genealogy database application Reunion 9 (OS X 10.4) quite often, and I’d like to have a script so that she can save the backup from the application and have either Applescript or Automater sense the change, launch the disc utility, burn the new file to a cdrw. Am I dreaming? LOL…

What is the path to the backup file, and the file name?

Definitely not dreaming. If the gdb is accessible in the Finder, the rest is straight-forward, the only tricky bit being to determine that she has in fact inserted a blank CD of the right type the first time.

Here is the path including filename:

/Users/frances/Documents/Reunion Files/Family History Copy 9

I’m wondering if a CDRW is maybe not the best choice for backup the way the finder treats CDRWs…maybe an external HD is a better choice? I just want to be sure she’s got redundancy and she’s not too good with anything but the one application and maybe a web browser, you know?
