I was wondering if it is possible to extract text from a flash file (.fla or .swf). I’m trying to find a way to search text in flash file. The flash dictionary doesn’t have much to look at, and I wonder if it is even possible to index the text inside these files. I was hoping an applescript might do it. Once I have it, if that is even possible, where to put it is the next issue. But, Let’s just see if it is even possible to get the text extracted from a .fla or .swf.

Aside from applescript, if you have the fla file, you could look at the actionscript to see where the text is coming from. If it’s a dynamic text box it might be pulling the text from an external .txt file. That’s pretty common.
