Firewire Camera Control via an iPod?

Ok,

Here’s one for you AV Gurus out there. I am a video artist looking to make a camera rig for my car. I am going to mount the camera in the rear deck and on the passenger seat headrest posts. I want to connect a simple controller via firewire to my miniDV camera, primarily to send two messages: record and record pause. So I figure, why not try to use my iPod?

I have no idea how to write actionscript, but have experience with max/msp/jitter. So far, none of the books I have looked at show me how to write scripts for an iPod, how to program button functions, control DV devices or anything else related to this idea. I would like a graphic to appear in my ipod window for record and record pause and to verify the connection.

Can anyone point me to a resource where I can learn how to write this program?

Thank you,
Steve Blue

As already noted, the Code Exchange forum is for posting full snippets/solutions. In the future, please use the other forums for help requests.

Moving to OS X forum.

Anyone have any clue how to do this? Any pointers?
