Firing a cash drawer through a USB printer

USB Receipt printers contain an option in their drivers to trigger a cash drawer to open. This is great if you only want to print receipts. However, I want to also print customer formulae, sub-summaries at al and do not want the drawer to open in these cases.

I need to use a terminal command/shell script to send the command ‘BEL 07’ or ‘Control-G’ straight to the USB port via the printer. IE I think I need to set the correct printer (Star TSP700) and then send the above command to it. Any help is appreciated.
