folder size restrictions with backup script

Hi,

I’ve been using a backup script for some time now, to duplicate my work in progress folder to an additional internal hard drive. However, it’s stopped working “

Finder got an error: The operation could not be completed because some items had to be skipped. “Workshop”

The size of the folder has grown to about 10 gigs. However, when I substitute an alternative folder (much smaller), the script works fine.

So, the question is, is there a limit above which AS won’t (or can’t) deal with?

Cheers,

kev.

Well, It doesn’t look like it’s got anything to do with the size of the folder. After playing around, removing things from the workshop folder, and trying the script again, I narrowed the problem down to one particular folder of tiff files. With it removed, the backup went ahead, with it back in place, the backup failed. I made sure the permissions were OK on the folder and enclosed items, and that there weren’t any odd invisible files in there. Took it out and then popped it back a couple of times, and now it’s working! What’s that all about?

Cheers,

Kev.

You probably needed to start from another system or installation disk and Repair Disk for that volume. Do it more than once until nothing is left to correct (some corrections reveal others). Something was wrong with the directory for that folder.
