How can I mount/unmount internal volumes on schedule?

EDIT: I found a solution on maxosxhints.com that works perfectly. I know etiquette dictates that I post that script here, but I don’t think that’s fair to the original author.

I use fstab to keep my internal volumes from mounting at bootup (save energy and indexing, open/save dialog and all that) a la this article. Since these are my backup volumes I need to mount them on schedule so they are available for when the backup scheme runs, and then unmounted when finished.

What would you suggest?
