How do I find an application's "window name" or "button name"

Hello

Problem and Question

Problem
I am trying to script Excel 2004 and when the I open the application there is a window that pops up asking what type project do you want to open:
Open an empty doc or …

There are two buttons to choose from “Cancel” and “Open”

Question
Is there an application that will tell me that window\button names?
Is there a way to manually find the names?

Yes, for GUI scripting there are PreFabs UI Browser or Apple’s UIElementInspector

But wouldn’t it be easier to disable the appearance of this project catalogue in the preferences of Excel?
