How to attach a "Choose File" dialog

What is the proper command/syntax to have a “Choose File” dialog box attached to the main window. Right now I am using the standard addition “choose file” as the means to choose a file. I would like to attach that to my main window.

You can use the display command with the open-panel class to choose files and/or folders.
