hey all, i want to add some kind of visual cue to some of my scripts that’ll indicate when some long process has completed. I don’t want to use dialog boxes or self closing dialog boxes. Is there a way to flash the menu bar or better yet have an applications dock icon bounce specified times?

You can use Appearance osax’s “notification” (but then it will show a message window) or try a fake-display alert if you are using AppleScript Studio. I think that should bounce the icon…
Also, I think that the author of “XTools” osax was preparing some special effects (flashing bars and so on) for XTools’ next releases… So, if you can wait…
Finally, for simple and faceless scripts, a very common convention is a double-beep when you finished your tasks, against a simple-beep for errors…
