How to SET the font in a Text View?

I saw from another thread (how to get font of text view?) how to GET the font in a text view, but I haven’t found anything on SETTING the font in a text view.

I need to set the first word of every paragraph in a text view to bold. On a somewhat related topic, can text view rulers be set up (i.e.: place tabs and indents) via AS?
