How to wake-up the computer

Hi everyone.
I would like to know - if it’s possible - to wake-up a machine from sleep, because I use a script to back-up things - but it doesn’t work when my machine is sleeping. I checked in System Event’s AppleScript dictionnary to see but only founded the sleep command…

I use a crontab file to fire my script - could use an on Idle script…
If you have any suggestions, I’ll be please.

Thanx.

Sleep is a bit different for different machines, but in general, if you want things to happen in the night, you should set up your Energy Saver preferences so the screen and the HD can sleep, but the CPU can’t.

Thank you for your hint
I’ll try it even if I dislike to let my CPU running all the time
but if it’s the only way…

You should be able to schedule a regular start-up or wake up call by selecting Energy Saver in System Preferences and clicking on the “Schedule…” button.
