illustrator and PS level 1

I’v been trying to figure out how to get a Postscript level 1 eps from illustrator CS2 or at least find a way to save as PS level to then have somthing else convert it to PS level 1 if anyone knows of a way to do this without using a lower version of illustrator it would be extremely helpful to me

I have a similar problem, I’m trying to get something off my ipod onto an eight-track tape.

point taken :o so how would you suggest dealing with printers that can’t use postscript level 2 or higher ?

Hmmm… I am unaware of any recent applications that support postscript level 1. A suggestion would be to use old software (i.e. acrobat 4 or earlier) or rasterize your eps files using photoshop (you will experience some quality loss).

What printer/rip are you trying to print to?

I honestly don’t know we have some were around 700 printers that receive these files and I don’t know how many are gonna have problems with level 2 or 3 but I know there will be some :frowning:

Just 2 quick sources to take a look at. If you still want to try you may get some mileage with Ghostscript which I think can be added to graphic converter. Never tried it myself.
