Illustrator CS3 Preferences

I searched the forums, and I didn’t find an answer, so here goes:

Using Applescript, how can I switch units in Document Setup for Illustrator CS3 from points to inches? For example, I have a 612pt x 792pt document in Illustrator, and I want Applescript to switch the units of measurement to inches, so the document size will be 8.5 x 11. Can this be done?

You are looking for the ruler units property of the document. Unfortunately the programers, in their infinite wisdome, mad this a read only property to AppleScript so it cannot be changed.

And it’s still the same in CS4. Cannot say yet for CS5. Thinking of doing it via Javascript for just this simple task, maybe it is not r/o over there… crap.

Illusrator works in points only regardless of scripting language. And its still that way in CS5. Working bounds/measures have gone mad in this too. Just Foo/72
