InDesign CC 2014 How do I use Link to select it's container

The problem is that I want to take a list of Links and then use that list to select the container of each and measure it.
I can’t find a way to do that.
I would also be happy to do that in reverse. Select a container and get the name of the image file in it. can’t seem to find a way to do that either. When I get the properties of the container and it shows “All Graphics” “1 item” - there is lots of information available about that image item EXECPT the image’s name. There is an ID but I can’t seem to tie that to the name either Grrrrrr.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
