InDesign CC 2014

Hi everyone,

I need to align a superscript and subscript character horizontally centred using AppleScript in InDesign CC 2014. It seems this might not be possible in InDesign and the only way to do this would be make a function for superscript that reduces and aligns the top of the character with the normal text and same way for subscript but aligning it with baseline.

Anyone done something similar using AppleScript?

Thanks,
Hamed

Hi. A character has no real “top,” unless you convert it outlines; the middle point would, therefore, be different for every font (and also dependent on both case and sub/superscript status). I would probably just create a new character style. Set its point size to a percentage of the point size of the original text and then set the baseline shift to some percentage of the original’s baseline.
