Is it possible to change the icon of a folder using a script?

Does anyone know if it’s possible to change the icon of a folder using applescript?
Either with user input to choose which icon to use for change, or can you set within the script the icon to use for the change.

My issue is that I have hundreds of folders, and with OSX…there is no visual indicator after you apply a folder action…so I’m trying to figure out how I can change the icon of a folder automatically when an action is applied to that folder

All of this used to happen automatically on the classic versions…and I’d like to supplement the fact that it does not happen with OSX

Any ideas?

I am also trying to do this, seems like such a simple task but apparently there is no way at all to do this :x

The only thing that would work would be a way to temporarily convert the jpg data into an icon and then set that data to the icon property of the folder, and I have no idea how this can be accomplished :?
