A bit of history …
A long long time ago, I used to host a public domain Hotline server that catered to the Applescript community. In those days, very few websites existed that were worth very much, and even so subject to web rot.
It was then that I had the idea of starting a well balanced, online collaborative website. I approached a friend of mine named Greg Spence to see if he was interested, and so together bbs.applescript.net was born, later to become macscripter.net
In those days, we kept asking ourselves the question:
“If we build it, will they come?” 
So, to answer your question, yes. We have since closed it to the public as we found more people came to the website that used the HL server.
