Just a Reminder to BACK UP!!

Every now and then a simple reminder can avert disaster. Last Friday, I was just finishing up a rather complex ASS application in Xcode 1.2. The NIB WAS a single window with 2 drawers and 5 tabs. The NIB contained over 90 named objects and a handful of objects that didn’t require names (text labels, buttons connected directly to drawers, etc). The Xcode file contains over 700 lines of code (which is a lot for my typical applescript programming).

I went to make ONE FINAL CHANGE to the NIB which promptly crashed while saving. I didn’t have it backed up. SO, I get to RECREATE the whole thing. Fortunately for me, the code is not harmed and my comments section contains all of the NIB object names.

The moral of this story: Do yourselves a favor and BACKUP YOUR WORK :!: I know that, as of now, I am making good use of my .Mac account.
