keyboard command to run applescript

how do you assign a key to run a function in an application like itunes?

i want to assign a function key to each script.

i know the function keys are used by the os but i believe they can be disabled

also can this be done for automator scripts as well?

I use Xkeys (freeware) http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/18713

I use FastScripts: http://www.red-sweater.com/fastscripts/index.html
It’s cheap and offers lots of cool features, as it is specifically concibed for AS execution (eg, cancel running script, save changes in own script, etc.).

I use both Butler http://www.petermaurer.de/nasi.php?section=butler&layout=default and Spark http://chezjd.free.fr/Creation/logiciel.php?sign=Sprk&lang=2.

do any of the apps have the ability to assign keys to script by appliction.

ie:

in itunes ‘f1’ will do script ‘a’

but in finder ‘f1’ will do its normal function

thanks for all the help and great post.

Try Butler for doing that.
