Launching a website fromthe desktop

Hello all. This my first post here and I was wondering if you can help me.
I would like to create a script that when run it will bring up a window where I can enter a URL and then the script will open my “Default Web Browser” to that URL.
Can anyone help me with this?

Browser: Firefox 1.0.8
Operating System: Mac OS X (10.0.x)
