Mail Won't Search Address Book or LDAP For Names & Emails

OK, I often have to send an email out to a group of people.

Usually, the group is available in a column in Excel. If I select the group of people in the column and paste into the To field in Mail.app, I get a list that looks like this:

(example):
Joe Schmoe, Harry Butler, Leonardo Venus, Edward Koenig, Kenny Zanga

Now, say I have all of these people in my address book. And not only that, but they would be able to be searched for individually using LDAP.

Unfortunately, Mail.app won’t pick up the email addresses for any of the people, so I can’t email them all at once. I have to individually add their names to the email.

Is there some sort of plugin or script that will cause Mail.app to search the address book for names in a comma-separated list, say, when hitting enter after pasting the list into the To field?

I’m not a script expert, but I looked all over the net for plugins and workarounds and couldn’t find anything.

Thanks in advance for any advice/help!
