Move Hi-Res out of iPhoto?

I am wondering if it would be possible to create an Apple Script that would…

  1. copy the high res files out of an iPhoto to a CD or DVD to be written
  2. make alias of the high res files, move the alias to temp location & strip " alias" off name.
  3. move the aliases back into the iPhoto library replacing high res files.

The idea is to have all photos remain in iPhoto (as preview) so that I can search and preview them but if I ned the hi-res, iPhoto would prompt me for the disk.

I am using iPhoto 5 with OS X (10.3.9)
