when I call a beep, can I get the script to beep a different beep than the default system beep? ie, if the default system beep is “funk”, can i get a script to beep “blow”?

Not that I know of but Extra Suites allows scripts to play AIFF files.
tell application "Extra Suites" to play AIFF file ":path:to:file"
