Say command and routing sound

I have no clue as to how to route sound to both the built-in speakers and my external speakers. The preferences allow me to set either one but not both. I’m writing a script that allows me to say the text of a document using the say command. So far I manage to properly use the say command. When the script runs it only plays the sound in my external speakers as my current settings for the sound output is set to my sound card.

Is there another command that I can use to route the sound to the built-in speakers simultaneously or not simultaneously when my current settings are set to the sound card? Any help is appreciated.

I remember reading about a shareware application that can send sound to multiple output options at the same time. Try searching on macupdate or versiontracker.
