Scipting a backup

Hi

I am new to this AppleScript and have been trying to backup some files from one Mac to another. I have a simple script that will copy the files from one folder to another on the same machine.

What I would really like to do is present the user with a list of available computers on the network and allow the files to be copied to that machine. This list of computers will be hard coded as there is only three and the folder to backup to will be predefined.

The major problem I am having is getting the Duplicate command to work to the senconf Mac.

All the machines run Mac OS X and all cen be seen on the network.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. :slight_smile:

I’d first let the user choose a destination, then mount the user-selected volume. Eg:

open location "afp://user:pass@192.168.200.1/volumeName"

Then, duplicate the file. Eg:

set x to alias "path:to:file.txt"
set y to alias "volumeName:destination:folder:"
tell application "Finder" to duplicate x to y

Where do you have problems? What is the code you are working on?
