Is there any way to do a screen flash like Photobooth when you take a picure? with out putting the screen flash option on in System Prefs?

You can do this. Create a folder and name it “flash.aiff”. Place this folder in your Home > Library > Sounds folder. When you want the screen to flash, switch the alert sound to “flash” and use beep.
