Script Editor Immediately Quits

Apologies if I am asking this in the wrong forum.

I am fairly new to the Mac - but the time has come for me to expand my skills a bit further and learn a bit about Applescript.

Unfortunately whenever I try to start Script Editor it briefly flashes onto the screen and then silently quits. I’ve deleted the .plist file - but that made no difference. I’m at a loss to know what to try next. I’m running 10.5.6 - and I’m pretty sure that I last fired up Script Editor when I was running 10.5.5 - quite some time ago.

Can anyone point me in the right direction with this?

Is there an alternative editor that I can try in the event that I can’t resuscitate Script Editor?

Thanks

Craig

Repairing Permissions with Disk Utility sometimes solves problems like this.

Script Debugger from Late Night Software is an Script Editor replacement (and much more) but it’s expensive. But they have a 3 or 4 week free trial. That might help until you get your problem with Script Editor solved.

It’s also just a nicer script editor.

Late Nigh Software’s ScriptDebugger and their UI Browser are my best friends since getting into writing more elaborate (and long) scripts.

Which reminds me, need to check out the 4.5 upgrade, I haven’t had a chance yet…[runs off to look]
