Scripting Finder Window Background Images

It looks like there is no way to programatically set a background image for a Finder window, at least not in 10.3, and not that I’ve found in Tiger. What I need is to drop a folder that contains an application, a background image (jpeg), and a custom icon file for a mounted disk image onto a droplet (mostly bash commands surrounded in AS), and have it create a disk image ready for distribution. Everything is working fine (after discovering the bug in SetFile in XCode 1.2), except setting the window background image. It seems that that’s one thing that is missing from the Finder dictionary. Anyone found a way to do this? Has this been included yet in the latest Tiger update? Any other ways to do it? Any help would be appreciated. I know there are installers and apps that will do this, but I want to do it as described above.
