Set Apple's Mail unread messages to the color Red?

I’ve had to switch one machine from using Entourage to Mail due to the license limit on Entourage. Mail seems just fine, but I do miss having the unread messages appear in a bright color. The only choice I can find in Mail is to have the unread messages appear in Bold type, which doesn’t give me the obvious difference I would like.

Mail’s Rules also does not provide the option to act on unread messages only.

So I’m hoping somebody has a script which will change the color of my unread messages only.

Thank you so much, that does the trick. I had to list several different mailboxes & change my choice to red. Then I set up a Rule to apply your script. Now I am happy.
