tell application “Finder” to shut down
I am trying to do the exact same thing as this message-poster–shut down my OS X G4 from across the room with my remote control–but “tell application “Finder” to shut down” doesn’t work… I just get the spinning ball and an eventual error message. Please, anyone, in OS X what precise script will do a complete and painless shut down, or at least prompt us exactly like the keyboard’s power key does? Help, anyone!
Nevermind… I figured it out. That script DOES work… thanks to the person who posted it.
