"Stay Open" setting problem

I have a script that is supposed to stay open. I have saved it as an Application with the Stay Open setting switched on and it works… a couple of times and then fails. (With NSReceiverEvaluationScriptError: 4) If I reopen the script in the Script Editor, save as and set it back to “Stay Open”, it works again but this is very odd. Another issue that happens at the same time is that the custom icon goes away. Anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this??
