USB warning pup up 20x a day

I plugged an external HD into a USB port. It drew too much power, my Macbook automatically shut off. I pulled the external HD out of the USB port. Since then I get a USB warning pop up every 5 seconds (100s of times a day), which of course is completely annoying.

I reset PRAM and NVRAM to no avail.

How can I stop pop up?

Can I at least write a script to close the pop up, if I can’t remove its seed?

Here is the pop up message:
"Because a USB device was drawing too much power from your computer, one or more of your USB devices has been disabled.

To prevent damaging your computer, the USB device drawing too much power has been disabled. Other devices may also have been disabled. When you disconnect the device drawing too much power, your other USB devices will be enabled again.

  (OK) button"

A quick Google search will likely answer your question… or provide clues.

Sounds like there may be a hardware problem with one of your USB ports… or worse.

Not something that can be solved with - or addressed by - an AppleScript.

Thanks Peter,

I was hoping to get an idea for a script that would close the annoying pop up while try to determine how to fix the USB port problem. The pop up is REALLY annoying!!

Thanks,
